Bet 1: Brighton vs Leicester – Brighton to Win & BTTS No (1/1 Odds)
Brighton appears to be suffering from a massive FA Cup hangover after their quarterfinal defeat on penalties to Nottingham Forest last month. Despite going into that cup tie in buoyant form, the Seagulls have followed this up with two losses to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. However, Brighton are pushing for Europe and we think that they will have too much in their locker for struggling Leicester.
The Foxes are having a shocker now. They have become the only team to lose eight consecutive matches in England’s top division since Sunderland in 1976/77. You would have to think that both the losing streak and the barren spell in front of goal must end soon. However there is no evidence for this when watching their display against Newcastle, who didn’t have to get out of second gear, on Monday evening you cannot see any evidence for this.
Only six teams have conceded less than Brighton have at home this season. Leicester have only avoided defeat four times on the road, scoring only 14 times in the process. We expect Brighton to win to nil.
Bet 2: Nottingham Forest vs Everton – Total Goals: Under 1.5 (2/1 Odds)
Nottingham Forest’s push for the Champions League and Everton’s bid for comfortable survival are both build on defensive strength, with this being a meeting between the fourth equal and sixth meanest rearguards in the country.
Forest have only scored more than one goal in a game once in their last seven matches in all competitions. This is a situation which has not been helped by the injury to leading scorer Chris Wood, who remains doubtful for the Everton game. The Toffees have drawn five out of their last six, conceding seven, but scoring only six, as they have become difficult to beat since the return of David Moyes. Goals look to be at a premium and 2/1 looks like good value.
Bet 3 Liverpool vs West Ham United – Liverpool to win (3/10 Odds)
There have been signs in the last few weeks that Liverpool have started to stutter. After their Champions League exit at the hands of PSG and defeat in the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle United, the Reds steadied the ship somewhat with a narrow win in the Merseyside derby.
Despite this wobble, the Red’s, who could be boosted by the return of Allison Becker, hold an 11-point lead at the top and we think that they will bounce back with a win against West Ham. Arne Slot’s side won the reverse fixture 5-0, and while they may not be in that sort of form, they are more than good enough to do the double.
The Hammers have gone four matches without a win and there appears to be little to play for in their seven remaining fixtures. They lie 16th in the table, 15 points clear of relegation, but 10 points off the top half. On the other hand, Liverpool will know that a win will be another step towards securing the title.
The analysts are backing a home win and we feel that this will be the case too, with 3/10 odds making it a worthwhile addition to the acca.
Bet 4: Wolves vs Tottenham – Wolves to Win & BTTS Yes (11/4 Odds)
Tottenham, who have three defeats in their last six Premier League matches, go to Wolves on the back of a frustrating night in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt. Spurs failed to take their chances, leaving next week’s second leg finely balanced at 1-1. Winning the Europa League is the only realistic route back into Europe for Ange Postecoglou’s side, so they may have half an eye on Thursday night.
Wolves have won their last three league games in a row, and with only one defeat in six, find themselves 12 points clear of relegation. They are boosted by the return of Matheus Cunha from a four-match suspension. They have a very good recent record against Spurs, with only one defeat in six and victories in the last two Molineux meetings.
The match looks full of goals, so we are backing Wolves to win, and adding BTTS gives greater value to the bet.
Bet 5: Newcastle United vs Manchester United – Jacob Murphy to Score or Assist (20/21 Odds)
Newcastle United go into this one with momentum. Following their Carabao Cup win, Eddie Howe’s side are aiming to secure a Champions League spot, so after four wins in a row in all competitions, with three in the Premier League, it is crucial that they come away with three points here.
Manchester United suffered another frustrating evening in Europe, conceding a last-minute equaliser at Lyon. They may be looking towards the home leg next Thursday as their only realistic hope of Europe next season is to win the Europa League.
However, we feel that the value in this fixture lies outside of the result. Jacob Murphy is in the form of his life. He has 16 Premier League goal involvements this season, with 14 of those coming since the start of December, when he returned to the side regularly. In that period, only Mo Salah (28) and Murphy’s teammate Alexander Isak (19) have more. We feel Murphy has a strong chance of adding to his impressive stats against Man United.
